Relationships are strongest when people in the relationship have shared goals, and are able to collaborate and share ideas in a safe and cooperative way. This can be accomplished by grounding relationships in mutual respect, a commitment to listening to one another, and a dedication to come up with shared solutions to any barriers and obstacles. It’s also important to frequently revisit, articulate and confirm shared goals to make sure all parties are on the same page.

SELF EVALUATION

Self reflection is an important partner of maintaining shared goals in any kind of relationship. When warning signs are present, ask yourself: Do I value the input of others? Is my input valued? Is there an underlying issue that needs resolved? Are we still on the same page? Do we still have the same goals? Is there anything I can do to improve this part of the relationship?
