SKELETAL

The skeletal system is comprised of your body’s bones, which provide a frame for your skin, muscles and tissues. The skeletal system works with the body’s muscular, brain and nervous systems to allow your body to move about, sit still, stand and do basic activities. In addition to bones, the skeletal system also includes your body’s cartilage, tendons and joints. Some bones also include bone marrow, which helps to produce blood cells, and support your body’s immune system.

Warning Signs

Warning signs include:

  • Easily broken bones
  • Joint pain or arthritis
  • Decrease in movement abilities
  • Degrading posture
  • Overall body pain
  • Visible bone fracture or intense pain
  • Chronic illness
  • Feeling brittle or scared to bump into things

SELF EVALUATION

For many people, bone health is easy to overlook because you can’t see your bones. This is why changes to your movement, flexibility and pain levels are all important to monitoring your bone health. Ask yourself: Can I move about freely and easily? Do I have pain in my joints? Do I feel “brittle”, or scared to bump into things? Do I have any pain that is continuous? Is my posture changing? Do I get continuous headaches or migraines? In addition to overall bone health, skeletal misalignment can occur, and have an impact on your overall physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness. When this occurs, it may also be time to seek chiropractic care.
